'This school gives great emphasis to developing pupils' sense of values, and qualities such as happiness and kindness are promoted constantly and highly effectively. Pupils' attitudes to each other, to adults and to their learning are consequently exemplary.'
Redwell Primary School is situated on the northern edge of Wellingborough. The KS1 building was built in 1977 as a Primary School. It became an Infant School in 1986 when the KS2 building was opened as Redwell Junior School. In April 2014 the Infant & Junior Schools amalgamated to return to their roots & became Redwell Primary School again.
Our age range is from 4-11 year olds, in a growing role moving from two form entry to three. This will take the school capacity to 610 when we are full in September 2019.
We are a Values School which is embedded in everything that we do. This supports outstanding behaviour and learning attitudes from our pupils and the well-being of the whole school community. We focus on traditional values and have one per month that we use as a theme in assemblies and as a focus around the school. All of our Values are underpinned with Love, the 11 Values are:
Friendship, Happiness, Patience, Respect, Responsibility, Kindness, Ambition, Independence, Self-Belief, Honesty, Bravery.
Across the school, we follow an enquiry based curriculum. This gives all children the opportunity to deepen their learning through skilful questioning and focussed challenge. We value individual strengths in children and personalise their learning journey so that they get the most out of their learning experience. We set ourselves challenging but achievable goals in the pursuit of excellence. The curriculum of the school is designed to provide equal opportunities for all. We also consider our curriculum to be part of a child's life long journey in education. We acknowledge and build upon learning which has taken place before children enter our school and we lay the foundations which we hope will enable all our children to make the best possible use of the educational opportunities they are offered after they have left our school.
We welcome parents as partners in the enterprise of educating children. We expect that parents will support their children's learning. The Governors are supportive, caring and work hard for the school.
Children, parents and staff respect each other, and the atmosphere in our school is friendly, relaxed and purposeful. Redwell Primary School is a happy place, which provides an excellent education within a caring and supportive environment.
In April 2014 Redwell Primary School was awarded by NCTL with National Support School (NSS) Status for the work we have been involved in with local schools. The Head Teacher is a designated National Leader in Education (NLE) and the Chair of Governors is a designated National Leader in Governance (NLG). All of this enables us to be innovative with our approach to education and develop pathways for the future of education for our communities.
